Something I fondly remember from my childhood was maneki-nekos. My grandparents had a collection of these novelty nekos, and I remember seeing them often in restaurants. But what are mankei-nekos?
Maneki-Neko: What are they?
The maneki-neko (招き猫, lit. ‘beckoning cat’) is a Japanese figurine, which is known to bring good luck to those who own one. In modern times, they are usually made of ceramic or plastic. The figurine depicts a cat, traditionally a calico Japanese Bobtail, with a paw raised in a beckoning gesture.

Maneki-Unikooru
“Unikooru,” translated from Japanese means, “Unicorn.” I’d been watching a Youtube video when I noticed a maneki-neko in the background. This inspired me to make the piece, “Maneki-Unikooru.” May Silly beckon you to RayTayArt.com and bring you good luck! This piece can also be seen on my digital gallery.
