The feeling of having my motivation returning is indescribably great! Not only do I feel ready to create art again, but that also means my imagination is back to working full time!
Last night while listening to some music, I heard a song that reminded me of a circus performance I saw back in Colorado earlier this year. The whole show was phenomenal! Upon hearing the song, my mind struck up a wild idea: What if Ghostface was a circus performer?
Upon creating this AU, I found myself feeling a very ironic sort of admiration for the whole thing, including the initial sketch below. The irony of my love for this idea is due to the fact that I’m terrified of clowns! A few years ago (around high school age) I had 2 terrible nightmares about clowns. That was enough to convince me into thinking that clowns are in fact, scary. Since that experience, I’ve had more clown related nightmares over the years. With the irrational fear in mind, this AU not only fuels my obsession with Ghostface, but it also tackles my fear of clowns head on.
-Circus Freak AU-
Ghostface isn’t known as a mass serial killer. However, that doesn’t change the fact that he’s still a killer. In this AU, he does it less prominently. Ghostface is a circus performer! He’s extremely agile and flexible, which allows him to form his body in ways that you’d think would break bones. He’s also full of life and energy, personality similar to Sundrop. (Five Nights at Freddy’s: Security Breach, 2021)
Ghostface has a great sense of humor that could bring a smile to crowds of all ages without fail. His clumsy nature tends to boost entertainment levels as well. This circus freak can dance, sing, and do just about anything to amuse those who see him. However, this charm can often times be used as a trap to ensnare unsuspecting victims into an unfortunate end.
Design: I didn’t want to completely abandon the classic black robe. I love that about Ghostface! So instead, black hoodie. Easy compromise. Trying to come up with a color scheme other than black took a minute, but it ended up being the classic red and black combo.
I figured the large striped pants would be fun. The inspiration definitely came from Sun, but I’ve seem other characters look good in them too. Sun was just the first that I could think of. Looking at the concept sketch, I think Ghostface looks really good in them!
The mask redesign was fun. The other little accessory add-ons were too. Overall, I’m feeling a strange sense of attachment to this AU. The admiration is definitely ironic due to my strong fear of clowns.
I won’t lie, I’d probably be horrified seeing him look like that in the franchise, or even irl if I were face to face with him. Yikes! But even through all of that fear, I still really love the charming and strange idea of him.
