This recap post is a little bit late to the party. (Terribly sorry for the lack of posts here at Silly’s Diary)
CreepIE Con 2026: The recap! CreepIE Con felt a bit less like a con, and a bit more like a chance/opportunity for expensive celebrity meetups. These types of cons can be really exciting! That is, if you have the budget and patience. I myself came more for the vendors and interactive experience side of things.
“A Little Piece of Heaven” -Avenged Sevenfold
“Horror Heaven” is how I usually like to describe horror oriented conventions. MidSummer Scream sure was! Although this was slightly smaller, it still felt like being right at home! Being around so many people that are all gathered for the same topic of interest always feels extremely comforting. Conversing and getting photos with other cosplayers was great, too!
“Do we follow each other on instagram?”
Story time! Of all the fun I had at CreepIE Con, this experience absolutely made the entire trip for me! Cosplaying as Finney Blake from The Black Phone, I encountered my first Grabber cosplayer on the opposite end of the convention center outside while waiting to get in for entry. After getting in and beginning to wander the expo halls, I eventually found said cosplayer inside with a group of friends. One thing was for sure. I wanted a photo together.
I approached and started with, “Hey! Good to see a fellow Black Phone cosplayer! I haven’t seen any yet and was wondering where everybody was.” Little did I know, this wasn’t just any wandering cosplayer. This was one of my favorite cosplayers I’d been following on Instagram for months with nearly 30k followers. To my surprise, the first response I received was, “Wait, do we follow each other on instagram?” My heart dropped to my stomach with disbelief before asking, “I… I’m not sure. What’s your name?”
“Scarycutesam.” For someone like me who is still a very small artist and cosplayer, this meant the absolute world to me. It was him! To be recognized for my Black Phone cosplay by someone drastically bigger than me felt indescribable. That experience alone made me feel happier than I’ve been for quite some time. It’s a moment I’ll be sure I never, ever forget!
