Motivation in Progress

2025 has been a weird year, and most definitely not the year I intended it to be. My motivation to be an artist has been coming and going quite a bit. “Come back!” I begged when it left again. I hope to get it back in full swing and really become the artist I’ve strived to be.

While on the search for my artistic drive, I’ve been taking the time to try and enjoy life and make the most of it, whether that be with others around me, or simply on my own. Let’s recap since my last post!

The Scary Stuff

First up is the scary stuff! Scream Diego definitely had its fair share of scares. There were lots of exciting panels and activities going on during the con that were super exciting! My personal favorite was the horror movie short film festival. Dressing up for an early Halloween weekend gave me the opportunity to practice my face painting skills. Scream also came back into theaters for 31 Nights of Screams at my local movie theater.

Getting to see one of my favorite horror movies in theaters felt like an absolute dream! Due to the original coming out in 1996, I never thought I’d get to experience it on the big screen. And for the grand finale, Halloween 2025! Halloween was fantastic this year. “Sticks” is a scarecrow Ghostface oc variant I’m currently developing within my cosplay characters, so getting to be Sticks for Halloween was a lot of fun. Sticks achieved a number of reactions from amazement to fascination to plenty of scares!

The Not So Scary Stuff

Seeing Balu Brigada in concert was really exciting! Although it wasn’t my favorite venue spot, it was definitely great to see Balu Brigada on their own tour. The first time I saw and discovered Balu Brigada was when they opened for 21 Pilots in Nashville, TN. Getting to The Music Box brought upon quite the situation, though. Due to the tickets saying that the venue was “sponsored by Belly Up,” I ended up at the Belly Up Tavern in San Diego, nearly 35 minutes away from where the correct venue location was, that being The Music Box. I almost didn’t make it to the show!

The final “not so scary” recap could be considered a little bit scary by some. After being four years fashionably late to seeing “The Black Phone” (2021), I finally saw it and fell head over heels for it! Back in college, “Scream” (1996) was my absolute favorite horror movie. Though that interest still stands strong today, The Black Phone has certainly made its way up to that same admiration for me.
