I came, I saw, I screamed! MidSummer Scream 2025 was held at the Long Beach Convention center in Long Beach, CA. For a first time attendee, this convention was absolutely fantastic! There was so much to do and so much to see!
The Vendor Hall
The vendor hall was filled to the brim with different things so see. Art, crafts, comic books, and more! There were also lots of horror icon celebrities to meet and greet with at the con. The “Hall of Shadows” had a seperate black light themed area for performances and haunted walk through experiences. I myself went through the “Carn-Evil of Sorrows” and the “Jack the Ripper” walk through.
Panels and Additional Events
MidSummer Scream had tons of panels and events to choose from. There were DIY crafting classes, live comic readings, and even discussions on how horror movie stunts are performed, as well as the psychology behind the use of gore in horror movies. The opportunities seemed practically endless at this con. BlumHouse Studios had a “Scream Box” near the entrance where participants could step in, scream as loud as they could, and have their scream measured by decibles!
Horror Heaven
In summary, MidSummer Scream feels like horror heaven for those interested in the scary scene. This was an absolutely fantastic experience overall. Even better, it felt so good to get back into the cosplaying scene. For this convention, I went as a gender bent Ethan Winters from Resident Evil Village! So long, Long Beach!
